In line with its corporate social responsibility and philosophy, the management of the Abuja City Journal, a leading online news platform, has instituted an Essay Competition to stimulate and prepare Nigerian youths for leadership. The theme for the competition is; “The Nigerian in the Public Space, to whom I can Entrust my Future”.
Publisher of the newspaper, Mr Soga Owoeye, stated in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday that the online newspaper conceived the essay competition to groom the youths on leadership as well as using them to challenge today’s leaders on better society. He also added that the competition would further boost reading culture amongst the youths.
On the eligibility and criteria for entry for the competition, Owoeye said it is opened to all Nigerian youths, irrespective of their ethnic and religious background .
According to him; “The theme for the competition is “The Nigerian in the Public Space, to whom I can entrust my future”. The essay should not be more than 1,000 words and must explore not only the qualities that endear the writer to the subject person, but also how the public works and ideals of the individual have personally impacted the writer. On eligibility for entry, it’s for Nigerians on leadership. By this implication, it is opened for all Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic and religious backgrounds. Speaking on reward and prizes for winners, the Managing Editor said the overall winner would smile home with 1million naira, while the first and second runner up will also win laptop and other worthy prizes.
