The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers who allegedly came from neigbouring Lagos State to carry out robbery operation in the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this Sunday, giving identities of suspects as Samuel Sunday, Joel Rotimi and Adeleke Mustapha.
He said: "The three men include Samuel Sunday a 20-year-old resident of Fagba, Lagos State; Adeleke Mustapha a 22-year-old resident of Ajala area, Lagos State; and Joel Rotimi a 19-year-old resident of Taju Bello street,Agbado, Ogun State"
Oyeyemi clarified they were arrested following a distress call received by the police in Ajuwon from residents of Iju aga area of Ajuwon at about 1:45 am that armed hoodlums numbering about six have invaded the area and dispossessing innocent members of the community of their valuables.
Said he: "Upon the distress call, the DPO Ajuwon, SP Andrew Akinseye, quickly led his men to the area where the hoodlums who took to their heels on sighting policemen were chased and apprehended."
According to him, exhibits recovered from the suspects include a cut to size locally made pistol, four Bajaj motorcycles, weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, two voter cards and two national Identity cards.
The Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun has ordered immediate transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigations.
