A legal tussle may soon spring up between some National Assembly members, representing various constituencies in Ekiti State on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), over failure to pay the legal fees of the lawyers, who laboured hard to get them off the hook at the election petition tribunal. Some of the honourable members are; Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi, Peter Owolabi, Ibraheem Olarewaju and others.
According to a source within the Party secretariat in Ado Ekiti, the two law firms -Akin & Salau Chambers, Lagos and an Ilorin based O. B. Balogun and Co, have served a letter of demand on the party, seeking for payment from the APC and its leaders since the defauting lawmakers have blocked their lines from the reach of their lawyers.
According to sources close to the lawmakers, they are said to be broke, having borrowed so much to win the 2019 elections. This situation is also believed to be responsible for why the honourables could not service their constituencies, while PDP Senator Biodun Olujimi is instituting Projects everywhere, even outside her Ekiti South Senatorial District.
Besides, contrary to the experiece of the lawyers who worked for Ekiti APC and its candidates, legal practitioners on the side of Senator Olujimi during the tribunal were not only finacially rewarded but were also sponsored on vacation to Dubai on the bill of Olujimi.
