Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have kidnapped one person in Kwara state.
The gunmen also shot another person, is said to be in critical condition and currently hospitalised. The two victims, named Julius and Jacob Olanrewaju, are said to be of the same parents.
The incident reportedly occurred Wednesday evening between Obbo-Aiyegunle and Osi, both towns in Ekiti state.
Mr. Jacob Olarewaju is a retired teacher of the Federal Government College, Omu-Aran, it was gathered.
The Olanrewajus were said to be traveling from Obbo-Aiyegunle on the said day to Omu-Aran to check the health condition of a close relation said to be recuperating in a hospital.
The hoodlums, it was gathered, allegedly attacked their victims’ vehicle and kidnapped Julius, while Jacob fled into the bush.
It was said that the assailants allegedly shot at Julius as he fled the scene and that he feigned dead, following which the hoodlums left him writhing in pains.
AbujaCityJournal also gathered the kidnappers had been having it smooth and pleasant in the area, because of the unencouraging state of Obbo-Aiyegunle-Osi road.
The suspected gunmen were said not to have made contacts with the family of the victims for ransom as at the time of sending this report.
Speaking on the issue, Aare of Obbo-Aiyegunle, Justice Joseph Gbadeyan (rtd) clarified residents of the community had met over the matter.
Justice Gbadeyan, a former acting Chief Judge of Kwara State urged the state government to fix the dilapidated road to rescue the community members from the hands of miscreants. When contacted, police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi denied knowledge of the incident.
