Focusing on a specific career has always demanded much time and attention as such some Nigerian celebrities got to the extent of dropping out of school to pursue their career and while some went back to school after achieving their goal, some did not.

Here is a list of Nigerian celebrities who left school and never went back and have proven that education does not guarantee success in the industry.

Don Jazzy

Prolific music producer and C.E.O of Mavin Records, Michael Collins Ajere popularly known as Don Jazzy is one of the Nigerian celebrities who has proven that they do not need education to achieve success. The music producer dropped out of Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma in his first year and has since focused on tohis music career.


Popular songwriter and singer, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid who started singing at 11years as Lil Prinz before moving to Banky W’s music group, Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) in 2009 to officially start his music career dropped out of Lead City University in his second year because of his music career, hoping to continue later.

Mercy Johnson Okojie

Popular Nollywood star, Mercy Johnson Okojie is one of the highest-paid actresses in Nollywood. The actress dropped out of school due to her inability to pass her university entrance exams (JAMB) several times and this led her to join the Nigerian movie industry.

Genevieve Nnaji

Veteran Nollywood star, Genevieve Nnaji is one of the most successful actresses in Nigeria. The actress has made name for herself in the movie industry from her achievements. Regardless of being an extremely shrewd and successful lady, she didn't gain a university degree, even after stating that she would return to school.


Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, humanitarian, and activist, Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2face sits among music legends in the entertainment industry today. Although the artist attended the Institute of Management & Technology, Enugu (IMT), where he did his preliminary National Diploma course in Business Administration and Management, he wasn't able to finish. The artist later revealed what led to his decision to quit school was because he was robbed while in school and all the audio cassettes that were recorded by him were stolen.
