At least, an official of the Department of State Services (DSS), whose identity was not known as at the time of filling this story is currently receiving treatment at the National Assembly Clinic, Abuja after sustaining injuries from a clash between some #EndSARS protesters and the security men at the National Assembly gate on Friday (this morning).  About five of the protesters were also reported to have been injured in the early morning brawl.

According to an eye witness account, the DSS official was mistaken for a protester and attacked by one of the policemen, who had come to disperse the rioters with the breech of his gun. After identifying him to be a DSS Official, policemen and other security operatives at the scene quickly rushed him to the NASS clinic.

The protesters, led by Oluwole Sowore, had early this morning gathered in front of the complex to paint #ENDSARS grafiti on the floor to remind the Nigerian Government of their demands

“Yes, I can confirm that a few people were injured this morning when some &EndSARS protesters came to the gate of National Assembly, this morning. After the inscription, police approached them to leave but they refused a situation which led to them being teargased with some of them arrested.  Unfortunately, a DSS officer who was coming into the assembly complex for different reason was mistakenly taken for protester and hit by one of the policemen. I can confirm that he’s responding well to treatment at the National Asembly Clinic,” an Administrative staff of the Assembly told AbujaCityJournal.

Some of the protesters were also beaten while persons passing at the place were harassed.

As at the time of filing this report, human and vehicular movement in the area had been restricted.

Sowore, had tweeted shortly after that “The Nigerian Police brutally attacked us at the National Assembly today, during #EndSARS protest! Five persons were injured. I am saved.

Another protester, Adebayo Raphael, tweeted;

“After peacefully inscribed #EndSARS at the front of National Assembly and about to leave this morning, at least four protesters were arrested after needless attack by the Nigerian Police in Abuja. When we say nothing has changed. This is exactly why,”
