Troops Intercept Drug Syndicates with 248 Blocks of Cannabis

Troops of Operation Safe Haven on Tuesday arrested two drug syndicates and recovered 248 blocks of substance suspected to be cannabis worth 7.5 million naira.

Report say, retired Nigerian Army personnel Corporal Essien Friday, 60, alongside Ibrahim Ali, 50 years old were the suspected syndicates arrested during stop and search operation along Manchok – Jos Road in Kaura local government area of Kaduna state.

A statement relayed to AbujaCityJournal on Tuesday by Major Ishaku Takwa, Military Information Officer, said the suspects claimed they were contracted to convey the illicit substance from Ondo State to Yola, Adamawa State.

He noted that a Toyota Camry car with registration number Lagos, KJA 150 EG conveying the substance was impounded by the troops.

“Other items recovered from the suspects include 18 wraps of Indian hemp ready for smoking, 2 smartphones, 3 travelling bags, one lighter and 2 wallets containing Five Hundred and Seventy Naira (N570) only.

“The suspects and items recovered have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Plateau State Command for further investigation,” the statement explained.

The Commander OPSH, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Ali whilst reiterating his determination to flush out all criminals in the state, commended troops for the feat and urged them never to rest on their oars.

He assured the general public that the Operation will continue to collaborate with law abiding citizens to ensure crime-free society and enjoined them to continue to support security agencies with credible information on the whereabouts of criminals.
