In the aftermath of the drone misfire incident in Tudun Biri village, Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the victims at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital. The misfire, attributed to drones belonging to the Nigerian military, left casualties, predominantly women and children, receiving treatment at the hospital.<\/p>\n

VP Shettima, after the visit, disclosed plans by the Federal Government to rebuild Tudun Biri village as part of the Pullako Initiative. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the initiation of the scheme in Kaduna State, offering a comprehensive package that includes houses, clinics, schools, veterinary clinics, empowerment initiatives, and solar energy as compensation for the destruction caused by the drone misfire.<\/p>\n

During a meeting with community leaders and stakeholders, Shettima expressed the President’s concern about the tragic incident and emphasized the non-kinetic approach of the Pullako Initiative to address challenges in the North West. The initiative will start next month, benefiting states such as Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger, and Benue.<\/p>\n

Vice President Shettima stated, “We are going to build houses that will complement the efforts of the Right Honorable Speaker. But ours is a complete package as well, including houses, clinics, schools, veterinary clinics, empowerment initiatives, and solar energy.”<\/p>\n

Acknowledging the gravity of the incident, Shettima quoted the late Dele Giwa, saying, “One life taken in cold blood is as gruesome as millions lost in a pogrom.” He assured the affected community that the federal government stands by them, and an investigation is underway to prevent a recurrence.<\/p>\n

Shettima thanked religious and community leaders for resisting attempts to politicize the incident, urging unity and moderation. At Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital, he, accompanied by dignitaries, consoled victims and directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to ensure the victims receive adequate relief materials. The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Shuaibu Musa, reported 71 victims with varying degrees of injuries, with some referred to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
