In an assertive declaration on Thursday, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike pledged unwavering commitment to implementing stringent measures in order to actualize President Bola Tinubu’s ambitious “renewed hope” agenda.<\/p>\n
Expressing disdain for the sponsors of protestors opposing his policies within the FCT, Wike urged Nigerians to dismiss those disseminating falsehoods, asserting that such actions only serve to divert the government from achieving positive impacts on the people.<\/p>\n
Launching the resurfacing of 49 roads in Asokoro, Wuse, and Maitama areas of Abuja, Wike took a swipe at those who falsely claimed victory in the 2023 Presidential election. He mockingly stated that those spreading such misinformation about their electoral success had, in fact, suffered defeat.<\/p>\n
Wike emphasized, “People should commend the administration and refrain from making statements, resorting to blackmail, and spreading lies, such as the false claim of winning an election when they actually did not.”<\/p>\n
Regarding the protesters, Wike dismissed their potential to distract him, stating, “On Wednesday, I heard about individuals carrying placards. Frankly speaking, I don’t have time for such distractions. We want to remain focused and deliver on the mandate given to us by President Tinubu.”<\/p>\n
Highlighting the democratic nature of the nation, Wike acknowledged differing opinions but underscored the importance of aligning those opinions with what benefits the people of the FCT. He emphasized the need for a departure from traditional approaches, asserting, “We cannot continue to do the same thing, the same way and expect different results.
