{"id":9720,"date":"2023-12-07T07:51:13","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T07:51:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=9720"},"modified":"2023-12-07T07:51:13","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T07:51:13","slug":"zamfara-state-high-court-sentences-man-to-death-for-killing-friend-over-100-naira","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2023\/12\/07\/zamfara-state-high-court-sentences-man-to-death-for-killing-friend-over-100-naira\/","title":{"rendered":"Zamfara State High Court Sentences Man to Death for Killing Friend Over 100 Naira"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Anas Dahiru has been sentenced to death by hanging by a Zamfara State High Court for killing his friend.<\/p>\n<p>Anas of Unguwar Dallatu area of Gusau, in Zamfara State, was accused of killing his friend, Shamsu Ibrahim with a knife during a dispute over one hundred Naira in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The presiding justice, Mukhtar Yusha\u2019u said that having listened to both sides, the court was convinced that Anas commited the crime.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-12\">\n<div id=\"placement_419914_0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Justice Yusha\u2019u sentenced the convict to death by hanging as enshrined in section 221 of the Penal Code.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-15\">\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article-thumbnails\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In another development, the presiding judge also sentenced one Sadiqu Abubakar to life imprisonment for attempted armed robbery in Bungudu Local Government Area of the State.<\/p>\n<p>Sadiqu was convicted for attacking one business man in Runji village, who gallantly arrested and handed him over to the police.<\/p>\n<p>He was sentenced to life imprisonment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-12\">\n<div id=\"placement_419914_1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Speaking with newsmen at the court premises, the prosecution, Barrister Mansur Lawal, Assistant Director, Public Prosecution, Zamfara State ministry of justice, said he welcomed the judgment passed by the court.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, the counsel to the two convicts, Barrister Muhammad Ahmad Jamo, who is the coordinator, legal aid council, Zamfara State office, said the judgment would serve as deterrent to others.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, disclosed that they would look at the possibility of appealing the case.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-16\">\n<div id=\"jubnaba9444fe248f7e2dca83a50fe20337ba\" data-load=\"true\" data-id=\"1701931646238\">\n<div id=\"ac_ba9444fe248f7e2dca83a50fe20337ba\" class=\"jb-w-desktop\" data-id=\"acjb_ba9444fe248f7e2dca83a50fe20337ba\" data-divid=\"acjb_1701931646238\">\n<div class=\"jb-w-r-s-row\">\n<div class=\"jb-w-r-s-columns jb-w-r-s-col-12 jb-ac_header-title-container\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Anas Dahiru has been sentenced to death by hanging by a Zamfara State High Court for killing his friend.
