The termination comes in response to what Dolphin Drilling perceives as a persistent breach of contractual terms by the Nigerian company.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2023, Dolphin Drilling initially entered into a new agreement with Peak Petroleum Industries Nigeria Limited for the Blackford Dolphin semi-submersible rig. The contract, with an effective day rate of $325,000, encompassed the minimum firm contract period and included a mobilization fee. However, ongoing breaches of the contract have led Dolphin Drilling to sever ties with its Nigerian counterpart.<\/p>\n<p>The Blackford Dolphin, constructed in 1974, is a semi-submersible drilling rig featuring an Enhanced Aker H-3 design and has the capacity to accommodate 120 personnel.
