The announcement was made by Adedeji Owonibi, Chief Operating Officer of Convexity, following a meeting with representatives from the French Embassy in Abuja.

Adedeji Owonibi explained that CHATS, the app’s codename, leverages blockchain technology to provide end-to-end visibility of funds and aids distribution. This transparency encompasses the journey of funds from donors or government bodies to non-governmental organizations, agents, and ultimately to the intended beneficiaries, ensuring efficiency and accountability.

The innovative digital solution addresses the longstanding challenge of palliative diversion by digitizing the entire process. Convexity’s objective is to streamline the disbursement of funds for teachers’ salaries, food items, and other donations. This approach aims to counter the decline in humanitarian funding and guarantees that funds reach beneficiaries directly.

Adedeji emphasized the importance of aid distribution transparency, citing the need to instill confidence in both local and international donors. He mentioned a UK publication’s assertion that Nigeria is perceived as corrupt, and Convexity responded by creating a solution to enhance transparency, allowing donors to track the utilization of their contributions.

Furthermore, Adedeji urged the government to adopt this method to rebuild public trust in the various social safety net programs currently in place. He stressed that implementing Convexity’s solution would enhance transparency in government projects, enabling donors to trace the impact of their contributions.

Highlighting a recent success story, Adedeji discussed Convexity’s collaboration with the Red Cross to prevent the diversion of drugs meant for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. The solution involved identifying beneficiaries, issuing them QR codes, and enabling them to directly obtain their medications from designated pharmacies. This approach eliminated hoarding and ensured that only those in need received assistance.

In light of recent events, such as the arrest of a senior special assistant to the Kano state governor for the alleged diversion of palliatives, Convexity Technologies’ innovative app comes as a timely and impactful solution to address transparency issues in aid distribution.

Convexity Technologies Limited, a Nigerian-owned fintech company, has unveiled a groundbreaking application named CHATS, aimed at closely monitoring the distribution of palliatives and donor funding to designated beneficiaries.
