The convicted individuals include Modu Aisami, Zana Zarama, Umar Mohammed, and Bunu Kame. The Attorney-General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, led the prosecution, securing their convictions after separate arraignments before Justice Binta Nyako and Justice Emeka Nwite. The defendants pleaded guilty to the charges and requested leniency from the court. The defense counsel was led by the Director of Criminal Justice in the Legal Aid Council, F A Bakre.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the charge filed by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, M. B. Abubakar, Aisami provided funds for the terrorist group by buying food products from the group, having reasonable grounds to believe that the proceeds will be used to commit a terrorist act, therefore committed an offence contrary to Section 13(1)(a)(ii) of the Terrorism Provision Amendment Act, 2013.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Ogundele reported that Justice Nyako convicted the defendant who pleaded guilty to counts 2 and 3, sentencing him to 20 years imprisonment for each offense, to run concurrently. Zarama was also convicted, receiving a 10-year sentence for concealing the identity of a Boko Haram member. Nyako specified that the jail terms should commence from the day the convicts were taken into custody.
