A statement from the Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Gboyega Akosile, revealed that the state garnered substantial interest from investors for two waste-to-wealth conversion initiatives presented at the global climate summit.<\/p>\n<p>The initiatives include the Advanced Garbage Collection and Waste-to-Energy project, along with the construction of a new Sewage Treatment Plant. Governor Sanwo-Olu, at the event held at the Nigeria Pavilion, also introduced phase two of the Lagos State Climate Adaptation and Resilience Plan (LCARP) to global partners.<\/p>\n<p>These waste sector projects are currently at a crucial stage, awaiting technical review by interested partners and the disbursement of funds to bring the proposed ideas to fruition.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said that the development marked the beginning of another step in Lagos\u2019 journey towards environmental sustainability and resilience, noting that the projects, if successfully delivered, would turn what had been a burden to opportunity for the state.<\/p>\n<p>Sanwo-Olu said the investments represented his administration\u2019s commitment to improve the lives of Lagosian and maintaining the status of the State as a beacon of progress.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cToday marks a significant milestone in our journey towards sustainability and resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Two of our key initiatives, which are Advanced Garbage Collection and Waste-to-Energy project, and Sewage Treatment Plant, have attracted significant investment interest. These projects are currently at a pivotal stage; we are waiting on the investors to conduct technical analysis and put in the funds to turn the ideas into reality.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven that all cities face a collective threat of climate change, bringing about solutions requires collaboration and partnership. Our participation at COP28 has been driven by the cardinal objective to have direct engagements on sustainability with committed partners who can collaborate with us to create sustainable solutions to our local environmental challenges.
