In a letter addressed to employees, Spotify’s chief executive, Daniel Ek, acknowledged the magnitude of the reduction, particularly in light of the recent positive financial results. The company’s workforce expanded from around 3,000 staff members in 2017 to approximately 9,800 at the close of 2022.
