Emphasizing the inaccuracy of the claims, the PCNGi asserted that the buses in question have no connection whatsoever to the 100 billion naira palliative intervention on Mass Transit, strategically leveraging Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Electric Vehicles (EV), as earlier announced by the President.

The PCNGi Programme Director, Engineer Michael Oluwagbemi, posted a statement directly to SaharaReporters on his X (previously Twitter) handle. He expressed concern about the article’s misleading nature and urged the media platform to carry out more responsible reporting. He made it clear that the upgrades and deployment of the buses that SaharaReporters saw had nothing to do with their efforts to transform mass transit and lower transportation costs for Nigerians.

Oluwagbemi tweeted, “This is erroneous. These buses have absolutely NOTHING to do with the @PCNGInitiative and the 100 billion naira palliative intervention on Mass Transit leveraging CNG and EV as announced by the President. @SaharaReporters needs to be more responsible.”

Oluwagbemi called on SaharaReporters to be more accurate and diligent in its reportage, emphasizing the need for media platforms to verify information thoroughly before publication.
