Lawmakers argued that replacing these councils with Caretaker Committees is undemocratic and goes against the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Senatorial District, seconded the motion and voiced his apprehension about the adverse impact of such actions on Nigeria’s local government system.<\/p>\n
In response, the Senate condemned the arbitrary dissolution of democratically elected local government councils in Benue and other states.
