The ward and local government congresses of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State were conducted peacefully, with no petitions recorded, officials have confirmed.<\/p>\n
Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, leader of the party in the state, was widely credited for the calm atmosphere that marked the exercises held on Saturday, February 21, 2026.<\/p>\n
The Hon. Saidu Adamu-led Screening Committee and the Muhammed Yusuf Danbatta-led Appeal Committee said they received neither verbal nor written complaints from any individual or group, indicating rancour-free processes.<\/p>\n
Observers noted that internal party congresses in Nigeria often generate disputes at the grassroots level due to competing interests. However, the APC exercise in Benue was described as orderly and cooperative.<\/p>\n
Stakeholders attributed the development to extensive consultations, dialogue and consensus-building ahead of the congresses.<\/p>\n
The governor was said to have encouraged inclusiveness and discouraged imposition, reducing tensions that typically trail such contests.<\/p>\n
