{"id":82877,"date":"2026-02-21T10:10:57","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T10:10:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=82877"},"modified":"2026-02-21T10:10:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T10:10:57","slug":"movement-restriction-flouted-in-fct-as-residents-defy-directives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/02\/21\/movement-restriction-flouted-in-fct-as-residents-defy-directives\/","title":{"rendered":"Movement Restriction Flouted in FCT as Residents Defy Directives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Omoniyi David<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Saturday ignored the movement restriction imposed by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and directives by the Nigeria Police Force, as vehicular and commercial activities continued in several districts.<\/p>\n<p>Commercial buses, tricycles and motorcycles were seen conveying passengers along Airport Road, Jikwoyi, Nyanya, Kuje, Gwagwalada and parts of AMAC, with traffic flowing freely in many areas.<\/p>\n<p>On the Kubwa-Nyanya highway, security operatives mounted partial roadblocks, restricting motorists to a single lane.<\/p>\n<p>While most shops remained closed, some traders and POS operators operated along sections of Airport Road.<\/p>\n<p>In Kuje, election materials were dispatched from the Central Distribution Centre at Science Primary School to polling units early in the morning.<\/p>\n<p>However, at Aleyita, INEC officials had yet to arrive as of 8:26 a.m., with only a few voters and party agents on ground.<\/p>\n<p>At Pilot Science Primary School, Kwali, voting had not commenced as of 8:33 a.m., though officials were briefing party agents ahead of the exercise.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Omoniyi David Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Saturday ignored the movement restriction imposed by FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and directives by the Nigeria Police Force, as vehicular and commercial activities continued in several districts.
