{"id":82857,"date":"2026-02-21T09:43:21","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T09:43:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=82857"},"modified":"2026-02-21T09:43:40","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T09:43:40","slug":"fct-council-polls-adc-candidate-dares-wike-on-writing-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/02\/21\/fct-council-polls-adc-candidate-dares-wike-on-writing-results\/","title":{"rendered":"FCT Council Polls: ADC Candidate Dares Wike on \u2018Writing Results\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The chairmanship candidate of ADC for AMAC , Dr. Paul Moses, has issued a pointed remark toward FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, asserting that Wike cannot influence or \u201cwrite\u201d election results in AMAC.<\/p>\n<p>Moses insisted that AMAC is not Obio-Akpor, Wike\u2019s political base in Rivers State, where he alleged such manipulation was possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTell Wike AMAC is not Obio-Akpor\u2026 We own this city,\u201d he said in a video posted on X by Seleman (@Eromosele6).<\/p>\n<p>Moses reaffirmed that the will of the people would prevail and expressed confidence that figures such as Ireti Kingibe and other stakeholders would ensure that votes count.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded supporters of his past activism, including leading protests in 2023 and spending time in DSS custody.<\/p>\n<p>He declared that Saturday\u2019s election would usher in a new AMAC defined by boldness, objectivity, decisiveness, and fearlessness. \u201cEnough of people dying, enough of poverty\u2026 We own this city,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the wider FCT elections, the AMAC chairmanship vote is poised to be an early battleground for testing ADC\u2019s strength and rising influence ahead of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>In the buildup to the polls, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike publicly criticised the opposition, declaring he would oppose any candidate who stands against President Bola Tinubu\u2019s agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Wike said: \u201cWe have the FCT area council election coming up on February 21, and I have the duty to support any candidate that supports President Tinubu to win. It is my duty to ensure that any candidate who is not supporting Tinubu doesn\u2019t win in the election, and I owe no apology for my stance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His remarks were widely interpreted as a declaration of \u201cpolitical war,\u201d sparking backlash. The People\u2019s Democratic Party (PDP) condemned the comments, viewing them as undue interference.<\/p>\n<p>The strongest reaction came from the ADC, which rejected Wike\u2019s remarks and criticised his \u201cwar-like\u201d rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>The party insisted that democratic principles, not threats, would determine the winners.
