{"id":82438,"date":"2026-02-03T18:43:35","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T18:43:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=82438"},"modified":"2026-02-03T18:43:35","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T18:43:35","slug":"wike-inspects-abuja-projects-hails-progress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/02\/03\/wike-inspects-abuja-projects-hails-progress\/","title":{"rendered":"Wike Inspects Abuja Projects, Hails Progress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing road and infrastructure projects across Abuja after inspecting key construction sites.<\/p>\n<p>Wike said the projects, including major road and bridge works, were progressing as scheduled and would be delivered within set timelines, with some expected to be inaugurated during the third year of the current administration.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing journalists, the minister said the inspection began at Gishiri village in the Katampe District, describing the road project as strategic and among those slated for inauguration during the administration\u2019s third anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>The inspection team also visited the Outer Southern Expressway (Ring Road I), where bridge construction is ongoing, before proceeding to the Apo\u2013Wassa axis to assess roads designated for Apo traders.<\/p>\n<p>Wike disclosed that three major projects were currently underway, expressing confidence that work on the OSEX corridor would be completed by August, while others would be delivered as agreed.<\/p>\n<p>He commended contractors, including Chinese Geo-Engineering Construction, for the quality of work and steady progress recorded.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on Abuja\u2019s development as the FCT marks its 50th anniversary, Wike said the city\u2019s infrastructure had improved significantly, attributing the progress to the administration\u2019s commitment to development and strict adherence to the Abuja master plan.<\/p>\n<p>He also dismissed concerns over the impact of recent industrial action, noting that discussions with labour leaders resolved misunderstandings and confirmed there were no major systemic issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no winner or loser; it is about the interest of the FCT and its continued progress,\u201d Wike said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing road and infrastructure projects across Abuja after inspecting key construction sites.
