Fr. Hyacinth Alia, on Tuesday flagged off the reconstruction and dualization of 55.09 kilometres of roads in Gboko and its environs, a project aimed at boosting connectivity and urban development in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Works disclosed that the project will cost N62.135 billion and is expected to be completed within five months.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at Lubona Junction during the flag-off ceremony, Governor Alia acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the road infrastructure would not have been possible without federal backing.<\/p>\n<p>He urged residents to keep the President in their prayers, adding that he could not effectively deliver without such support.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Alia highlighted that the Gboko road network will be the second-longest in the state and emphasized that work is also ongoing on other major roads, including the 57-kilometre network in Benue South Senatorial District, such as the Awajir-Oju road.<\/p>\n<p>Contractors were charged to ensure that the projects are completed before the commencement of campaign activities.<br \/>\nEngineer Tivfa Wombo, Director of Civil Engineering at the Ministry of Works, explained that the scope of the project includes the reconstruction and dualization of major roads and junctions in Gboko, including the Yandev Roundabout, Lubona Junction, Captain Dawns Road, NKST Anzua Link Road, Bristow Roundabout, Tor Tiv Palace, J.S. Tarka-Mkar Roundabout, Tor Tiv Roundabout-Lessel Road, and the stretch from Tor Tiv Roundabout at Gondo Aluor to Mkar and Ameladu Road.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob Momoh, Group Managing Director of Jamud Construction Limited, assured that work would commence immediately, pledging to deliver quality results within the stipulated period.<\/p>\n<p>Gboko Local Government Chairman, Torseer Yina, described the initiative as transformative, noting it as the first significant facelift of the township since its existence.<\/p>\n<p>Stakeholders in the local government, including Professor Bem Angwe, APC Women Leader Mrs. Helen Agaigbe, and Professor David Orjime, commended Governor Alia for improving Gboko\u2019s infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Orjime appealed for similar attention to the Gboko-Mbatierev Road, while Chief Ahua Ikpah, representative of Ter Gboko, said the traditional council is pleased with the project and would provide full support.<\/p>\n<p>The reconstruction and dualization of the Gboko road network is expected to enhance urban mobility, attract investment, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Samson Adeyanju Benue State Governor, Rev.
