{"id":82236,"date":"2026-01-27T17:50:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T17:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=82236"},"modified":"2026-01-27T17:50:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T17:50:21","slug":"nscdc-decorates-cynthia-oparah-401-others-says-promotion-not-entitlement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/01\/27\/nscdc-decorates-cynthia-oparah-401-others-says-promotion-not-entitlement\/","title":{"rendered":"NSCDC Decorates Cynthia Oparah, 401 Others, Says Promotion Not Entitlement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Samson Adeyanju<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Command, has decorated Cynthia Daphne Oparah as an Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC), alongside 401 other newly promoted officers, with a strong charge on professionalism and enhanced service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>The decoration ceremony, held on January 20, 2026, at the NSCDC FCT Command Headquarters, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, was presided over by the FCT Commandant, Dr Olusola Odumosu.<\/p>\n<p>He described the promotions as well deserved, stressing that elevation in rank is not an entitlement but a call to higher responsibility, discipline and commitment to duty.<\/p>\n<p>Odumosu urged the newly decorated officers to wear their ranks with humility, integrity and renewed zeal, noting that much is expected from them.<\/p>\n<p>He said the FCT Command has recorded notable progress in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, particularly government facilities, public utilities and strategic installations.<\/p>\n<p>The Commandant disclosed that the Corps intensified its fight against vandalism, illegal mining and other forms of economic sabotage in 2025, leading to the arrest of 112 vandals and no fewer than 50 illegal miners.<\/p>\n<p>He added that successful prosecutions from these operations have helped deter criminal activities across the territory.<\/p>\n<p>Assuring the Minister of the FCT, the Commandant General of the NSCDC and residents of Abuja of his continued commitment to professionalism, Odumosu said the command has significantly strengthened internal security through intelligence-led operations, proactive patrols and rapid response to threats since he assumed office.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 402 officers decorated, 22 Assistant Commandants were promoted to Deputy Commandants of Corps, 20 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commandants, and 44 Superintendents to Chief Superintendents, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony was attended by heads of sister security agencies, as well as relatives and friends of the newly promoted officers, underscoring the Corps\u2019 resolve to reward merit, dedication and loyalty to service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Samson Adeyanju The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Command, has decorated Cynthia Daphne Oparah as an Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC), alongside 401 other newly promoted officers, with a strong charge on professionalism and enhanced service delivery.
