{"id":82074,"date":"2026-01-24T06:07:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T06:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=82074"},"modified":"2026-01-24T06:07:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T06:07:05","slug":"pdp-accuses-abuja-federal-high-court-of-bias-after-dismissal-of-suit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/01\/24\/pdp-accuses-abuja-federal-high-court-of-bias-after-dismissal-of-suit\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP Accuses Abuja Federal High Court of Bias After Dismissal of Suit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the Federal High Court in Abuja of bias following the dismissal of its suit challenging the police blockade of its national secretariat.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the PDP said the court\u2019s decision to dismiss the case, despite its formal withdrawal in line with court rules, reinforced its concerns about judicial impartiality.<\/p>\n<p>The party disclosed that it had earlier written to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, expressing loss of confidence in three judges at the Abuja division over alleged partiality.<\/p>\n<p>The PDP said it filed a motion seeking the recusal of Justice Joyce Abdulmalik and requested that the case be reassigned.<\/p>\n<p>However, it alleged that the judge declined to rule on the recusal application before proceeding.<\/p>\n<p>According to the party, it subsequently filed a notice of discontinuance within the timeframe allowed under the Federal High Court rules.<\/p>\n<p>It expressed concern that the court dismissed the suit instead of striking it out, describing the action as further evidence of bias.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Abdulmalik dismissed the suit after counsel to the plaintiffs moved to discontinue the matter, ruling that issues had already been joined.<\/p>\n<p>The suit sought, among other reliefs, an order compelling the police to vacate the PDP\u2019s national secretariat in Abuja.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Huldah Shado The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the Federal High Court in Abuja of bias following the dismissal of its suit challenging the police blockade of its national secretariat.
