{"id":81430,"date":"2026-01-12T00:57:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T00:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=81430"},"modified":"2026-01-12T00:57:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T00:57:09","slug":"portable-assault-video-sparks-outrage-police-probe-custody-conduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/01\/12\/portable-assault-video-sparks-outrage-police-probe-custody-conduct\/","title":{"rendered":"Portable Assault Video Sparks Outrage, Police Probe Custody Conduct"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Olokuta Rofiat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A viral video showing controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, allegedly being assaulted while in police custody has sparked public outrage, prompting the Ogun State Police Command to launch an internal investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The footage circulating on social media shows the Zazu crooner shirtless, handcuffed and in visible distress inside what appears to be a police facility.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming his arrest, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, condemned the alleged assault, stressing that the force does not condone the use of excessive force or the filming and public display of suspects, which he said violates police regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Portable was arrested in Ogun State following a petition by actress and skit maker Omobolarinde Akinyanju, also known as Ashabi Simple, who accused the singer of assault during a dispute at his bar on January 1, 2026.
