{"id":81381,"date":"2026-01-10T18:05:33","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T18:05:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=81381"},"modified":"2026-01-10T18:05:33","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T18:05:33","slug":"fg-asuu-to-sign-agreement-january-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/01\/10\/fg-asuu-to-sign-agreement-january-14\/","title":{"rendered":"FG, ASUU to Sign Agreement January 14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government will on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, sign a new agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) following weeks of negotiations aimed at resolving lingering industrial disputes in the university system.<br \/>\nThe signing ceremony is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Conference Hall, Abuja, according to a circular issued by the Federal Ministry of Education.<br \/>\nThe ministry described the agreement as a major step towards industrial harmony and improved teaching and learning in federal universities. Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of federal universities have been invited, with attendance declared mandatory.<br \/>\nSigned by the Director of University Education, Rakiya Ilyasu, on behalf of the Minister of Education, the circular reaffirmed the Federal Government\u2019s commitment to sustainable education development under President Bola Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda.<br \/>\nThe agreement follows ASUU\u2019s acceptance of a 40 per cent salary increase, effective from January 1, 2026.
