{"id":81116,"date":"2026-01-02T21:04:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T21:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=81116"},"modified":"2026-01-02T21:04:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T21:04:08","slug":"court-upholds-suspension-of-kano-nnpp-chairman-dungurawa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/01\/02\/court-upholds-suspension-of-kano-nnpp-chairman-dungurawa\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Upholds Suspension of Kano NNPP Chairman Dungurawa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Olokuta Rofiat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Kano State High Court has upheld the suspension of Hashimu Suleiman-Dungurawa as chairman of the New Nigeria People\u2019s Party (NNPP) in the state and barred him from acting in that capacity pending the determination of a substantive suit.<br \/>\nJustice Zuwaira Yusuf, in an interim order delivered on Friday, granted a motion filed by members of the NNPP Dawakin-Tofa ward, who challenged Dungurawa\u2019s continued claim to the office after his suspension on December 30, 2025.<br \/>\nThe court restrained him from parading himself as state chairman or interfering in party affairs and ordered all parties to maintain the status quo following his suspension.<br \/>\nThe applicants accused Dungurawa of denigrating Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, fuelling internal divisions and failing to pay party dues, contrary to the NNPP constitution.<br \/>\nFollowing the ruling, the NNPP State Executive Committee affirmed Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya as acting state chairman.
