{"id":81035,"date":"2026-01-01T07:42:04","date_gmt":"2026-01-01T07:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=81035"},"modified":"2026-01-01T07:42:04","modified_gmt":"2026-01-01T07:42:04","slug":"anthony-joshua-discharged-from-hospital-after-road-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2026\/01\/01\/anthony-joshua-discharged-from-hospital-after-road-accident\/","title":{"rendered":"Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital After Road Accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital following treatment for injuries sustained in a road accident on the Lagos\u2013Ibadan Expressway.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Wednesday, Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Gbenga Omotoso, said Joshua had been \u201cdeemed clinically fit to recuperate from home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The accident occurred on Monday when a Lexus SUV conveying Joshua and members of his team rammed into a stationary truck along the expressway.<\/p>\n<p>Tragically, two of his close associates, Kevin Latif Ayodele, his personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach lost their lives in the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua sustained minor injuries and was treated at Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, before being discharged on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Omotoso added that the boxer and his mother later visited a Lagos funeral home where the remains of the deceased associates are laid, to pay their last respects.<\/p>\n<p>He also conveyed the appreciation of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the public\u2019s outpouring of sympathy and support following the incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital following treatment for injuries sustained in a road accident on the Lagos\u2013Ibadan Expressway.
