{"id":80888,"date":"2025-12-28T07:52:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-28T07:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=80888"},"modified":"2025-12-28T07:52:00","modified_gmt":"2025-12-28T07:52:00","slug":"ghana-arrests-141-nigerians-in-major-cybercrime-sweep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/12\/28\/ghana-arrests-141-nigerians-in-major-cybercrime-sweep\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana Arrests 141 Nigerians in Major Cybercrime Sweep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Olokuta Rofiat<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ghanaian authorities have arrested 141 people, believed to be Nigerian nationals, in a coordinated operation targeting organised cybercrime networks involved in mobile money fraud, business email compromise and other online scams.<\/p>\n<p>The early-morning raids were carried out on December 27 in Tabora and Lashibi, suburbs of Accra identified through intelligence operations.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise was led by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA), in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, National Security and the Ghana Immigration Service.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, said 100 suspects were arrested in Tabora and 41 in Lashibi.<\/p>\n<p>Preliminary investigations indicate that most of those detained are Nigerians.<\/p>\n<p>Security operatives also seized 38 laptops and about 150 mobile phones suspected to have been used in carrying out the crimes.<\/p>\n<p>A Ghanaian landlord who allegedly accommodated about 100 of the suspects was also arrested for facilitating the activities.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said forensic analysis is ongoing, adding that all suspects found culpable will be prosecuted in line with Ghanaian law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Olokuta Rofiat Ghanaian authorities have arrested 141 people, believed to be Nigerian nationals, in a coordinated operation targeting organised cybercrime networks involved in mobile money fraud, business email compromise and other online scams.
