{"id":80649,"date":"2025-12-21T05:56:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-21T05:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=80649"},"modified":"2025-12-21T05:56:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-21T05:56:09","slug":"kebbi-govt-denies-involvement-in-malamis-efcc-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/12\/21\/kebbi-govt-denies-involvement-in-malamis-efcc-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Kebbi Govt Denies Involvement in Malami\u2019s EFCC Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Kebbi State Government has denied any involvement in the investigation and detention of former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).<\/p>\n<p>The government said the petitions being investigated did not originate from Kebbi State and insisted it played no role in Malami\u2019s ongoing ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Sunday, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Nasir Idris, Ahmed Idris, dismissed reports suggesting the case was politically motivated or linked to the state government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is nothing like that. The Kebbi State Government has no hand in Malami\u2019s issue; it predates this administration,\u201d Idris said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the petitions were filed when Malami declared interest in the Kebbi governorship and allegedly originated from Abuja, not Kebbi State.<\/p>\n<p>Malami was invited by the EFCC on November 28 over issues related to the recovery of the Abacha loot during his tenure as Attorney General of the Federation.
