The recall, contained in Public Alert No. 041/2025, followed a notification from France’s food safety authority, Rappel Conso, which flagged the product for failing to declare the allergens on its label.

According to the agency, the recall applies to all batches of the product with a best-before date of February 6, 2026. The country of origin was not specified.

“This recall is due to the presence of undeclared allergens, specifically milk and eggs, which may pose significant health risks,” NAFDAC said.

While noting that the Federal Government has banned noodle importation into Nigeria, NAFDAC said illegal entry through online purchases or international travel could not be ruled out, adding that nationwide surveillance had been intensified.

The agency directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to immediately mop up the product if found and urged distributors, retailers and consumers to avoid its sale or consumption. Consumers were advised to discard the product and report sightings or adverse reactions to the nearest NAFDAC office.

The alert triggered reactions on social media, with concerns particularly raised over children, who are among the highest consumers of instant noodles. Some Nigerians also questioned how the product could circulate despite the import ban.

Meanwhile, Indomie Nigeria has distanced itself from the recalled product, stressing that it does not produce, import or sell any noodle variant known as Vegetable Flavour.

In a statement, the company described reports linking it to the recall as misleading, noting that the product was recalled in France in August 2025 and that NAFDAC’s alert was issued purely as a precautionary measure.

“We do not produce or market any noodle variant called Vegetable Flavour,” the company said, assuring consumers that all locally produced Indomie noodles by Dufil Prima Foods comply fully with NAFDAC regulations and quality standards.

By Onyeanya Immaculata Concerns have risen nationwide following a public alert by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) over the recall of Indomie Noodles, Vegetable Flavour, found to contain undeclared allergens that could pose serious health risks.
