{"id":80443,"date":"2025-12-17T15:34:49","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T15:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=80443"},"modified":"2025-12-17T15:34:49","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T15:34:49","slug":"four-escape-death-as-skypower-express-aircraft-crash-lands-in-owerri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/12\/17\/four-escape-death-as-skypower-express-aircraft-crash-lands-in-owerri\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Escape Death as Skypower Express Aircraft Crash-Lands in Owerri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Four persons narrowly escaped death on Tuesday evening after a Cessna 172 aircraft operated by Skypower Express crash-landed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo State.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred at about 6:58 p.m. while the aircraft was approaching Runway 17.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), the aircraft, with registration number 5N-ASR, was en route from Kaduna to Port Harcourt when the crew declared an emergency and diverted to Owerri.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by the NSIB Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, Mrs Bimbo Oladeji, said airport police and emergency response teams were promptly deployed and successfully rescued all occupants.<\/p>\n<p>No post-crash fire was recorded, and flight operations at the airport were not disrupted.<\/p>\n<p>Oladeji disclosed that the four survivors were crew members.
