{"id":80319,"date":"2025-12-16T06:45:52","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T06:45:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=80319"},"modified":"2025-12-16T06:45:52","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T06:45:52","slug":"akpoti-uduaghan-queries-fg-over-vague-private-sector-funding-plans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/12\/16\/akpoti-uduaghan-queries-fg-over-vague-private-sector-funding-plans\/","title":{"rendered":"Akpoti-Uduaghan Queries FG Over Vague Private-Sector Funding Plans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) has queried the Federal Government over what she described as vague private-sector funding plans contained in the 2026-2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF\/FSP).<\/p>\n<p>The senator raised the concern on Monday during an interactive session of the Senate Committee on Finance at the National Assembly, where the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, presented the government\u2019s fiscal outlook.<\/p>\n<p>Akpoti-Uduaghan faulted the minister\u2019s claim that the government intends to \u201cmop up funds\u201d to support the private sector, saying the explanation lacked clarity amid rising taxes and economic hardship.<\/p>\n<p>She asked the minister to specify the source of the proposed funds, questioning whether they would come from taxes, levies or other channels, and how businesses would access them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow exactly will the private sector access these funds?
