{"id":80304,"date":"2025-12-15T15:09:25","date_gmt":"2025-12-15T15:09:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=80304"},"modified":"2025-12-15T15:09:25","modified_gmt":"2025-12-15T15:09:25","slug":"frsc-moves-to-prosecute-tiktoker-peller-after-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/12\/15\/frsc-moves-to-prosecute-tiktoker-peller-after-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"FRSC Moves to Prosecute TikToker Peller After Crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has ordered the prosecution of popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, following a road traffic crash allegedly caused by distracted driving while livestreaming.<\/p>\n<p>The directive was issued by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, after a video widely circulated on social media showed the influencer engaging in a live stream while driving.<\/p>\n<p>The development was confirmed in a statement signed on Monday by the FRSC spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed said the prosecution would cover offences including reckless driving, use of a mobile phone while driving, and distracted driving, in line with existing traffic regulations.<\/p>\n<p>He described the incident as a serious violation of road safety laws and a danger to other road users.<\/p>\n<p>Stressing that no individual is above the law, the corps marshal warned that livestreaming or any activity that distracts a driver constitutes a breach of traffic rules and poses grave risks to lives.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed concern over what he described as a growing trend of reckless driving by celebrities and social media influencers, urging entertainment industry bodies to promote responsible conduct among their members.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed noted that public figures wield significant influence over young people and should model safe behaviour rather than endanger lives for online engagement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo social media content or momentary clout is worth a human life,\u201d he said, reaffirming the FRSC\u2019s commitment to enforcing road safety laws and ensuring safer highways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has ordered the prosecution of popular TikTok streamer Habeeb Hamzat, also known as Peller, following a road traffic crash allegedly caused by distracted driving while livestreaming.
