The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Kogi has refuted claims made by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) regarding an alleged plot to burn down the Independent National Electoral Commission\u2019s (INEC) office in Lokoja. In a statement issued on Sunday night, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, the Director of Media and Publicity\/Spokesperson for the APC campaign council, urged the public to hold the SDP responsible for any untoward incident at the INEC office.<\/p>\n
The SDP, through its Director General, New Media, MuriSam Campaign Council, Mr Isaiah Ijele, had raised an alarm about a supposed plan to attack the INEC office in Kogi. However, the APC campaign council dismissed this as a false alarm, asserting that it was a ploy by the SDP to cover up its own intentions of torching the INEC office and then blaming the APC for it.<\/p>\n
Fanwo emphasized that the SDP’s allegations lacked evidence and were aimed at diverting attention from the success of the Kogi State Governorship Poll, which was hailed as the best in the democratic history of the state. He called on security agencies to enhance security measures around INEC offices throughout the state.<\/p>\n
The APC spokesperson stated, “No amount of propaganda can help their baseless, senseless, unsubstantiated claims after their scorecard at the poll was at complete variance with their boastful pre-election posture. Despite their intimidation and blood-letting rampage in some parts of the state, INEC conducted a credible, free and fair election.”<\/p>\n
Fanwo commended the residents of Kogi for standing against ethnic biases and voting in unity. He dismissed the SDP’s legal threats, stating, “No one is afraid of the legal challenge of the SDP since they failed to win the election and failed to disunite our state and our people.” The APC campaign council also called on security agencies to fortify security around INEC offices, addressing concerns raised by the SDP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
