Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, says his administration\u2019s commitment to service, discipline and impact-driven governance reflects his belief that the gospel is best preached through actions rather than words.<\/p>\n<p>In a reflection shared on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Governor Alia said his two years in office have been guided by the biblical principle in James 2:18, which emphasises that faith is demonstrated through works.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that although he is a priest, he avoids using religion as a tool for political image-building, preferring instead to allow results to speak for him.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, leadership rooted in faith must prioritise meeting people\u2019s needs, improving welfare, and restoring dignity to public institutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not chase attention or propaganda; I simply get the job done with humility and consistency,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor\u2019s media aide, Sir Tersoo Kula, noted that despite political distractions and resistance from \u201cdisgruntled elements,\u201d the governor has remained focused, delivering reforms and development projects he considers part of a social contract with the Benue people.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Alia also linked his leadership philosophy to Christ\u2019s admonition in Matthew 5:16, which calls believers to let their good works illuminate society.<\/p>\n<p>His administration, he said, has prioritised social welfare, community development and policies that uplift vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to questions about his dedication to duty, the Governor described his mission as a personal calling to rebuild Benue.<\/p>\n<p>He said he initially believed the state \u201cneeded mending,\u201d but later discovered that a complete renewal was necessary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew the task would be Herculean, yet I accepted it,\u201d he said. \u201cOn taking office, I found the situation more deplorable than I imagined. That meant giving my sweat and utmost sacrifice for the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He pledged to continue working tirelessly \u201cuntil the end of my second term,\u201d stressing that he demands accountability and excellence from his team, just as he remains personally involved in fieldwork, monitoring and evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe masses are my motivation,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen they speak, I hear God\u2019s voice. Their support pushes me forward.
