{"id":79953,"date":"2025-12-10T06:16:58","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T06:16:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79953"},"modified":"2025-12-10T06:16:58","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T06:16:58","slug":"afe-babalola-urges-wealthy-nigerians-to-invest-in-education-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/12\/10\/afe-babalola-urges-wealthy-nigerians-to-invest-in-education-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Afe Babalola Urges Wealthy Nigerians to Invest in Education, Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola, has urged affluent Nigerians to channel more resources into education and healthcare to support national development.<\/p>\n<p>Babalola made the appeal on Tuesday while receiving a delegation of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), led by First Vice President Dr. Benjamin Olowojebutu.<\/p>\n<p>The visit was disclosed in a statement by ABUAD\u2019s Director of Corporate Affairs, Tunde Olofintila.<\/p>\n<p>He said private investment remained crucial to improving human capital, noting that ABUAD and its Multi-System Hospital had made significant contributions to functional education, quality healthcare, medical training and reducing the need for foreign medical trips.<\/p>\n<p>Babalola lamented that many wealthy Nigerians with the capacity to transform society had chosen not to invest in these critical sectors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many wealthy Nigerians who can do better than what I am doing, but they have chosen not to,\u201d he said, adding that some of the world\u2019s greatest universities were founded by individuals without formal degrees.<\/p>\n<p>He urged Nigerians to embrace generosity, compassion and communal responsibility, especially amid rising economic hardship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany Nigerians do not know what they will eat today.
