{"id":79950,"date":"2025-12-10T06:13:35","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T06:13:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79950"},"modified":"2025-12-10T06:13:35","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T06:13:35","slug":"oida-accuses-presidency-of-excluding-fct-in-ambassadorial-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/12\/10\/oida-accuses-presidency-of-excluding-fct-in-ambassadorial-list\/","title":{"rendered":"OIDA Accuses Presidency of Excluding FCT in Ambassadorial List"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Huldah Shado<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Original Inhabitants Development Association (OIDA), has accused the Presidency of sidelining the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in the three batches of ambassadorial nominations recently sent to the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Tuesday, OIDA President Danladi Jeji faulted presidential aides for failing to reflect the federal character principle, noting that the FCT was missing from both the career and non-career ambassadorial lists.<\/p>\n<p>Jeji described the omission as \u201cunfair, unjust, and a further attempt to marginalise the most marginalised segment of the federation,\u201d stressing that the FCT\u2019s exclusion contradicts Section 299 of the Constitution, which mandates that Abuja be treated as a state.<\/p>\n<p>President Bola Tinubu has forwarded 68 nominees, 34 career and 34 non-career for Senate screening.<\/p>\n<p>The list includes former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, former presidential aide Reno Omokri, and ex-Abia governor Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd).<\/p>\n<p>OIDA recalled earlier complaints about inadequate representation of Abuja indigenes in federal appointments, including the FCT Development Commission board, urging the President to correct what it called a recurring oversight.<\/p>\n<p>Jeji appealed to Tinubu to immediately nominate qualified FCT indigenes, saying they possess the competence to serve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Huldah Shado The Original Inhabitants Development Association (OIDA), has accused the Presidency of sidelining the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in the three batches of ambassadorial nominations recently sent to the Senate.
