Former Kano State Governor and 2023 NNPP presidential candidate, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has raised concerns over the growing proliferation of militia groups nationwide, warning that the Federal Government\u2019s approval of untrained vigilante outfits poses serious security risks.<\/p>\n
Kwankwaso, reacting to the ongoing recruitment of 12,000 independent security operatives in Kano under the supervision of former APC Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, said the trend signals the government\u2019s inability to address worsening insecurity.<\/p>\n
In a post on X, he said the constitutional duty of securing Nigerians rests primarily with the Federal Government, adding that delegating the task to states has encouraged the spread of small arms and unregulated militias.<\/p>\n
He cautioned that political actors are now exploiting the situation to form private armed groups, further endangering national stability.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Baffa Dan-Agundi, former head of KAROTA, defended the Kano recruitment exercise, saying it aims to absorb 12,000 disengaged workers.<\/p>\n
Former Hisbah Commander Sheikh Harooun Ibn Sina also clarified that the Independent Hisbah Fisabilillah under the Ganduje Foundation is voluntary and not affiliated with the state government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
