The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),has sealed the Maitama residence of former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and ex-Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, a move his media aide, Julius Bokoru, has condemned as unlawful and vindictive.<\/p>\n
Bokoru said EFCC operatives arrived without a warrant, notice or any formal communication, and marked the building with red paint bearing the inscription \u201cEFCC, Keep Off.\u201d<\/p>\n
He described the action as \u201can affront to decency,\u201d alleging that Sylva\u2019s family and staff had been effectively confined for weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere are his children expected to go? How long must they endure this fear and uncertainty?\u201d he queried.<\/p>\n
Bokoru insisted President Bola Tinubu was not behind the action, blaming \u201clocal political rivalry\u201d for what he called an abuse of federal institutions.<\/p>\n
He also faulted the continued detention of several aides and domestic staff, whom he said were being held on \u201cvague and insubstantial allegations.\u201d<\/p>\n
