{"id":79595,"date":"2025-12-02T22:20:30","date_gmt":"2025-12-02T22:20:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79595"},"modified":"2025-12-02T22:20:30","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T22:20:30","slug":"embrace-equity-review-key-policies-ajileye-urges-gov-ododo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/12\/02\/embrace-equity-review-key-policies-ajileye-urges-gov-ododo\/","title":{"rendered":"Embrace Equity, Review Key Policies, Ajileye Urges Gov Ododo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Ade Iyamoye<\/p>\n<p>A Kogi-based cleric, Pastor Stanley Ajileye, has written an open letter to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, urging him to take far-reaching decisions that he believes could secure the governor an honourable place in the state\u2019s political history.<\/p>\n<p>Ajileye praised the governor\u2019s humility and attentiveness, describing them as qualities that set him apart from his predecessor and as the reason he felt compelled to offer frank counsel.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter, he appealed to Governor Ododo to consider not seeking a second term, arguing that by 2027 the Ebira ethnic group would have governed Kogi State for 16 years, matching the tenure previously held by the Igala.<\/p>\n<p>He said that stepping aside after one term would mark an unprecedented act of equity and elevate the governor as a unifying figure deserving of national recognition and higher responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Ajileye also expressed concern over the turbanning of Fulani leaders in Kogi Central, particularly the title \u201cObaro Fulani of Kogi Central,\u201d which he said is culturally significant to the Okun people of Kabba and Ijumu.<\/p>\n<p>Retaining such a title, he warned, could create future tensions or territorial claims.<\/p>\n<p>He added that many Okun appointees in the present administration were uneasy about the development but reluctant to speak up.<\/p>\n<p>The cleric further urged the governor to channel the remaining years of his tenure into visible and transformative infrastructural projects, including roads, bridges, estates, hotels, and industrial centres, projects he said would reflect the level of federal allocation received by the state and protect the governor from post-tenure scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>He also addressed concerns about local government allocations, encouraging the governor to take decisive steps to ensure that funds reach their intended destinations and to correct any practices that could undermine his legacy.<\/p>\n<p>Ajileye concluded the letter with prayers for God\u2019s guidance and extended warm regards to the First Lady, reaffirming his respect for the governor and his desire for a stable and prosperous Kogi State.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ade Iyamoye A Kogi-based cleric, Pastor Stanley Ajileye, has written an open letter to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, urging him to take far-reaching decisions that he believes could secure the governor an honourable place in the state\u2019s political history.
