{"id":79444,"date":"2025-11-29T05:46:25","date_gmt":"2025-11-29T05:46:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79444"},"modified":"2025-11-29T05:46:25","modified_gmt":"2025-11-29T05:46:25","slug":"ondo-state-approves-recruitment-of-500-amotekun-operatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/29\/ondo-state-approves-recruitment-of-500-amotekun-operatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Ondo State Approves Recruitment of 500 Amotekun Operatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Oso Abidemi\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the recruitment and training of 500 additional operatives for the state\u2019s Security Network Agency, Amotekun, in a move aimed at strengthening security across the state.<\/p>\n<p>The governor announced this on Friday during the inauguration of 130 newly appointed Justices of the Peace (JPs), in Akure, marking the revival of the JP office after 17 years of inactivity.<\/p>\n<p>Aiyedatiwa said the recruitment became necessary to reinforce the state\u2019s security architecture and support existing Amotekun personnel.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the reinstatement of the JP office would give citizens a greater role in local justice delivery, describing the ceremony as a turning point for grassroots justice and community cohesion.<\/p>\n<p>The 130 appointees, drawn from diverse backgrounds, were sworn in as part of the administration\u2019s justice reform agenda.<\/p>\n<p>The governor urged them to uphold integrity, fairness and wisdom while helping to mediate disputes, maintain public order and promote harmony in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General Kayode Ajulo traced the origins of the JP institution and highlighted its statutory powers, while the Chief Judge, represented by Justice Akintan Osadebe outlined their legal and administrative duties, including visiting detention centres, mediating conflicts and authenticating official documents.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa thanked the government for the opportunity to serve and pledged their commitment to strengthening peace and justice across the state.<\/p>\n<p>Aiyedatiwa also reiterated his administration\u2019s broader judicial reforms, including the recruitment of more state counsels, expansion of the judiciary and completion of a new Judiciary Complex designed to improve timely justice delivery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Oso Abidemi\u00a0 Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the recruitment and training of 500 additional operatives for the state\u2019s Security Network Agency, Amotekun, in a move aimed at strengthening security across the state.
