{"id":79422,"date":"2025-11-28T08:12:40","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T08:12:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79422"},"modified":"2025-11-28T08:12:40","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T08:12:40","slug":"bandits-strike-again-in-abuja-abduct-seven-in-bwari-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/28\/bandits-strike-again-in-abuja-abduct-seven-in-bwari-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Bandits Strike Again in Abuja, Abduct Seven in Bwari Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bandits have kidnapped seven residents of Gidan-Bijimi in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in a fresh attack that has heightened fear in the community.<\/p>\n<p>The victims, six girls and a 16-year-old boy were seized around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, while attending a burial ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses said the attackers, armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed two houses and whisked the victims away amid heavy gunfire, forcing many residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred just days after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike relaunched Operation Sweep to boost surveillance and curb rising insecurity in the capital.<\/p>\n<p>It also came barely 24 hours after FCT Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, reassured residents of renewed efforts to secure border communities.<\/p>\n<p>The latest abduction adds to growing concerns over repeated attacks in the FCT, despite the Federal Government\u2019s recent declaration of a nationwide security emergency and plans to recruit additional police and military personnel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu Bandits have kidnapped seven residents of Gidan-Bijimi in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in a fresh attack that has heightened fear in the community.
