{"id":79393,"date":"2025-11-27T16:11:20","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T16:11:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79393"},"modified":"2025-11-27T16:11:20","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T16:11:20","slug":"wike-revokes-13-year-old-apo-karshi-road-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/27\/wike-revokes-13-year-old-apo-karshi-road-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"Wike Revokes 13-Year-Old Apo-Karshi Road Contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Patrick Idowu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has revoked the 13-kilometre Apo-Karshi Road contract originally awarded in 2011 to Kakatar Construction Company Ltd, citing the contractor\u2019s prolonged non-performance.<\/p>\n<p>Wike announced the termination on Thursday during an inspection of ongoing projects, including the Karu-Customs-CBN Road, Gishiri-Katampe Road and the Apo-Wasa Carriageway.<\/p>\n<p>He said the contract had been re-awarded on an emergency basis to SCC Nigeria Ltd, which has already mobilised to site.<\/p>\n<p>The minister warned that road projects should not be politicised to the detriment of residents.<\/p>\n<p>Wike also disclosed that work has begun on the newly awarded Kubwa-Bwari Road, which will serve as an alternative route for commuters.<\/p>\n<p>During the tour, he addressed a shop owner whose structure, marked for demolition for obstructing a water channel had sparked concerns.<\/p>\n<p>He assured her of compensation but insisted the building must go to prevent flooding, stressing that public interest overrides personal sentiment.<\/p>\n<p>Wike expressed satisfaction with residents\u2019 reception along the project corridors, describing it as a sign of support for government efforts.<\/p>\n<p>He added that several roads would be commissioned as part of President Bola Tinubu\u2019s third-anniversary activities.<\/p>\n<p>He further stated that the FCT Administration will not award new projects in 2026, focusing instead on completing all 2025 projects ahead of the political year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Patrick Idowu FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has revoked the 13-kilometre Apo-Karshi Road contract originally awarded in 2011 to Kakatar Construction Company Ltd, citing the contractor\u2019s prolonged non-performance.
