{"id":79390,"date":"2025-11-27T16:10:16","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T16:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79390"},"modified":"2025-11-27T16:10:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T16:10:16","slug":"prosecute-perpetrators-of-insecurity-can-tells-fg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/27\/prosecute-perpetrators-of-insecurity-can-tells-fg\/","title":{"rendered":"Prosecute Perpetrators of Insecurity, CAN Tells FG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Oso Abidemi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has urged the federal government to strengthen security in vulnerable communities and bring perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice amid rising insecurity across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of CAN, made the call during his goodwill message at the opening of the 32nd Triennial General Assembly of the Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN), in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The assembly\u2019s theme, \u201cDemand for Justice and Righteousness\u201d, drawn from Amos 5:24, underlined the urgency of addressing injustice, corruption, inequality, and moral decay in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Okoh called on the government to support displaced families, rebuild destroyed communities, and tackle the root causes of insecurity decisively.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that the demand for security is a moral, humanitarian, and spiritual obligation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must stand together as one body, with one voice, pursuing one mission: the protection of the sanctity of human life and the dignity of all citizens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The CAN president also challenged Christians to ensure that the Church\u2019s witness is measured by practical impact, not merely by prayers or impressive church buildings.<\/p>\n<p>He described the CCN as a historic beacon of Christian unity and a custodian of moral conscience, calling on the Church to uphold justice, compassion, and righteousness in its engagement with society.<\/p>\n<p>Archbishop Okoh urged the Christian community to unite in demanding good governance, stressing that the government has a constitutional, moral, and sacred responsibility to protect lives and property without discrimination or delay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Oso Abidemi The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has urged the federal government to strengthen security in vulnerable communities and bring perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice amid rising insecurity across the country.
