{"id":79276,"date":"2025-11-24T13:08:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T13:08:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79276"},"modified":"2025-11-24T13:08:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T13:08:07","slug":"reject-kwankwaso-factions-congresses-nnpp-urges-inec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/24\/reject-kwankwaso-factions-congresses-nnpp-urges-inec\/","title":{"rendered":"Reject Kwankwaso Faction\u2019s Congresses, NNPP Urges INEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the public to disregard the congresses reportedly organised by the Kwankwaso-led Kwankwasiya faction, describing them as unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement on Monday, National Secretary Ogini Olaposi said all court-ordered congresses had been completed, and no other group was authorised to conduct fresh exercises.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Kwankwasiya Movement before the 2023 elections had expired.<\/p>\n<p>The party said Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and members of his faction were expelled for alleged anti-party activities and therefore lacked the authority to act for the NNPP.<\/p>\n<p>It urged INEC to fully comply with court rulings from Abia and FCT High Courts affirming the expulsion.<\/p>\n<p>The NNPP accused Kwankwaso of ignoring multiple court judgments and criticised INEC for its silence on letters seeking enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>It warned the commission against \u201csitting on the fence\u201d in matters affecting party stability and directed its members nationwide to ignore the \u201cfake congresses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The party urged INEC to uphold the rule of law in the interest of democratic stability.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Onyeanya Ebere Immaculata The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the public to disregard the congresses reportedly organised by the Kwankwaso-led Kwankwasiya faction, describing them as unconstitutional.
