{"id":79241,"date":"2025-11-23T18:03:27","date_gmt":"2025-11-23T18:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79241"},"modified":"2025-11-23T18:03:27","modified_gmt":"2025-11-23T18:03:27","slug":"breaking-38-eruku-worshippers-regain-freedom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/23\/breaking-38-eruku-worshippers-regain-freedom\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: 38 Eruku Worshippers Regain Freedom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Oso Abidemi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced that 38 worshippers abducted from Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), in Eruku have regained their freedom.<\/p>\n<p>The governor, speaking through his Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye, attributed the successful release to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s \u201chands-on approach,\u201d saying the president personally led efforts to secure the victims\u2019 freedom.<\/p>\n<p>AbdulRazaq revealed that President Tinubu cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa to focus on the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi states.<\/p>\n<p>He also directed a heightened deployment of security forces to Kwara, which the governor said was critical to the resolution.<\/p>\n<p>The governor expressed deep appreciation to various security agencies, including the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police, noting that four new tactical teams had been deployed to Kwara at the president\u2019s direction.<\/p>\n<p>The abduction occurred during a church service earlier in the week, when gunmen stormed the CAC Oke-Isegun in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area. According to the church, three worshippers were killed in the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Church officials later clarified that while initial reports listed 35 missing, additional verification brought the total to 38 people, including three non-members.<\/p>\n<p>The governor\u2019s statement thanked not only security forces but also community and religious leaders, and Kwarans for standing in solidarity during the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>President Tinubu, for his part, affirmed that all 38 worshippers have been rescued. He reaffirmed his commitment to battling insecurity, saying: \u201cEvery Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety \u2026 under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The abduction had reportedly come with a ransom demand, which was later negotiated down.
