{"id":79203,"date":"2025-11-22T23:38:51","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T23:38:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=79203"},"modified":"2025-11-22T23:41:56","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T23:41:56","slug":"be-digital-evangelists-peacemakers-fr-banjo-tells-fr-nigerian-youths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/22\/be-digital-evangelists-peacemakers-fr-banjo-tells-fr-nigerian-youths\/","title":{"rendered":"Be Digital Evangelists, Peacemakers, Fr Banjo Tells Nigerian Youths"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Abah Anthony John<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Fr Michael Banjo, has urged Nigerian youths to embrace digital media as a tool for evangelization, unity, and peacebuilding.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the CSN\u2019s national Youth Digital Animation Boot Camp, he described the initiative as a \u201cschool of discipleship for the twenty-first century,\u201d aimed at transforming young people into faith-driven digital creators.<\/p>\n<p>Fr Banjo told journalists that youths trained in animation, short videos, and podcasts can defend human dignity, foster interfaith understanding, and promote peace.<\/p>\n<p>He praised young Nigerians already using digital tools to calm tensions in conflict-prone communities, calling them \u201cliving witnesses of evangelization in the digital age.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He encouraged participants to share stories that inspire national unity, citing the 2018 case of Imam Abdullahi Abubakar, who sheltered 262 Christians during an attack in Plateau State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery human life is sacred and must be respected,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Fr Banjo urged youths to counter hate with hope and become \u201cdigital peacemakers\u201d in a nation grappling with violence and distrust.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded them that their digital tools are \u201cloaves and fishes\u201d to be used for evangelization and nation-building.<\/p>\n<p>The priest also appealed to government leaders to prioritise citizens\u2019 safety, warning that insecurity anywhere threatens everyone.
