{"id":78844,"date":"2025-11-17T21:41:19","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T21:41:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/?p=78844"},"modified":"2025-11-17T21:41:19","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T21:41:19","slug":"bandits-kill-3-abduct-64-in-fresh-zamfara-attacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abujacityjournal.com\/livenews\/2025\/11\/17\/bandits-kill-3-abduct-64-in-fresh-zamfara-attacks\/","title":{"rendered":"Bandits Kill 3, Abduct 64 in Fresh Zamfara Attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Oso Abidemi\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At least three people were killed and 64 others abducted when bandits raided Fegin Baza village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Women and children were among those taken, while four victims with gunshot wounds were rushed to Tsafe General Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Among the dead was APC chieftain Umaru Moriki, the Sarkin Fadan Moriki, who was shot along the Gusau-Tsafe Road while travelling to Kaduna.<\/p>\n<p>The attack came less than 24 hours after Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, visited the state and announced the deployment of fresh troops.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, witnesses said over 30 armed bandits on motorcycles blocked the Gusau-Funtua Highway, firing at motorists. Survivor Abdulrahman Ahmad Dole said the bandits struck shortly after the state police commissioner\u2019s convoy passed.<\/p>\n<p>Residents said they had prior intelligence of a planned attack and mobilised vigilantes overnight. Though the vigilantes repelled an assault on the village, the bandits diverted to the highway, abducting dozens.<\/p>\n<p>Two earlier captives were reportedly freed after a N500,000 ransom.<\/p>\n<p>Later that night, bandits also invaded communities behind the NTA station and in Bulunku, abducting several residents, including a woman and her son.<\/p>\n<p>Matawalle attended the funeral of the late Sarkin Fada on Sunday, describing his death as a monumental loss.<\/p>\n<p>Police Commissioner Ibrahim Maikaba did not respond to calls for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Zamfara remains one of the worst-hit states in the North-West, with recurring attacks on villages, highways and farms despite ongoing military operations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Oso Abidemi\u00a0 At least three people were killed and 64 others abducted when bandits raided Fegin Baza village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Saturday.
