I will not allow anything to happen to any officer doing his job and doing his job credibly well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The minister\u2019s remarks come amid tensions following a recent confrontation between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and a group of soldiers in Gaduwa District, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The soldiers reportedly stopped the FCT minister\u2019s convoy from gaining access to a disputed parcel of land, sparking a heated exchange.<\/p>\n<p>Wike had accused the military personnel of overstepping their bounds and insisted that no individual or institution is above the law, alleging that due process was not followed in the land\u2019s development.<\/p>\n<p>The Defence Minister\u2019s statement appears to reaffirm the government\u2019s commitment to safeguarding the rights and safety of military personnel acting within their mandate, even as the incident continues to draw public attention.<\/p>\n<p>The Armed Forces Remembrance Day, celebrated annually on January 15, honours the sacrifices of Nigeria\u2019s fallen heroes and active service members who continue to defend the nation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ade Iyamoye\u00a0 The Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, has assured that the Federal Government will continue to protect all officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces carrying out their lawful duties.
